About The Black Market Creatives Showcase

Founded in 2016, the Black Market Creatives Showcase began as an annual marketplace hosted on Small Business Saturday (the Saturday following Black Friday). It has grown into partnered marketplace activations and related curated vendor events. We want to take time to highlight creatives innovatively pushing the boundaries of societal norms, creating and doing things their way. Powered by Status Apparel DC and the Status: Way of Life, LLC, 2020 marked the 5th year of the Black Market Creatives Showcase and another year of continuing to push, amplify and share black businesses. With our online directory and the event going forward the goal is to build on these efforts, from its founding and subsequent years after the event has included 100+ vendors. Creating a pop-up event that allows entrepreneurs to showcase their goods, and services as well as interact with prospective clients.

"I had the most amazing time, vending with my local small business. The energy and vibrations were everything. I loved the diversity of the customers and their pure interest in our stories and products. The staff onsite were extremely professional, personable and most of all supportive. I absolutely love Ward 8 as a resident and small business owner".
